According to this the Mets offered more, so he was closer to signing with them. Case closed.

The Mets numbers were incorrect. It was a HUGE deal here in NYC that their bid was so low. But, run with it.

The Yankees are certainly hanging in the background now. They've even leaked to the media that they are not interested in submitting a bid.

I read on another thread that the Tigers denied having an interest in him. With Scott Boras running the show, you can't believe a single thing you read in the press. It's all about the hype.

The Orioles have increased their five-year offer to Guerrero from $65 million to $67.5 million, the Baltimore Sun reports. The move comes in response to the Mets' three-year, $30 million offer. All of the Baltimore money is guaranteed, while New York's offer has incentives that could give Guerrero as much as $72 million over five years.

Guerrero signed a five-year, $70 million guaranteed contract with the Angels on Saturday, the NY Daily News reports. If this is true, the Angels' offer trumped both the Orioles and Mets, the Orioles in terms of total dollars, and the Mets in terms of guaranteed money. No official word has come from the Angels, so right now, all this is speculatiion but multiple sources are saying that the Angels are the team that signed Guerrero.

Last year, Vlad signing with the Angels sort of fell out of nowhere. From what I remember he was real close to signing with 2 other teams.

I thought one was the Mets, he is telling me I am wrong.

Does anybody remmeber this? Any documented proof would be great.

I remember like it was yesterday. I was contemplating trading him as a keeper and all of a sudden BOOM the Angels came out of nowhere and signed him.
