Anybody heard anything about where Esteban Liaoza may be signing? Last I heard he was close to contract with the D Rays. Say his name mentioned in Tiger rumors also. The guys did win 21 games in 2003. He pitched hurt and under a great amount of pressure in NY. He also pitched very well in the playoffs. I have him from a late season faab last year for 1.00 . Waiting to see where he signs. I am in an AL only.

last thing i read, from rotoworld.com, was that he was negociating with the indians, but he wanted more than what CLE was offering. if CLE doesn't sign millwood it's possible that they will go after loaiza again. it seems like the dodgers and the nationals (still weird) were also in the picture.

well, good luck if you wanna take a chance on him. i don't think he can get anywhere close to his 2003 season again. he's not exactly a guy who can stay healthy all season and he's getting old...it depends where he ends up, but i expect high ERA and a losing record.

Tough call on this guy, but in the end, I would want him to be someone else's risk.

Loaiza?
is that guy still alive? :-°

One would think that after last season, Loaiza would not be showing his ugly mug around here. Actually, he and Matt Riley will always hold a unigue bond with us here at the cafe.

I do remember though, that at this time last season that there must have been 20 different threads about Loaiza, and they all ended the same way .. "Don't draft him"

Unfortunately, only one guy here did not listen and was ridiculed by his peers for an entire season ..

Surfs up, do not be that guy in 2005.

I don't think there's much else to say about Loaiza except....stay away unless in 20+ team league or deep AL Only league ;-D

Yeah, always follow what everybody says. You'll be more cool if you do.

Honestly, I wasn't THAT high on Loaiza, I was just the only one who thought anything of him. I drafted him in one league, in the 13th round, and that pick was followed up in that round by the likes of Shawn Chacon, Ramon Hernandez, and Mike Lieberthal.

So yeah, he didn't do so great. I still believe that was a good pick, and I'd do it again in a second. It was worth the risk. If he was anywhere close to what he was the previous year, I have a huge steal. If not, I missed out on soem really crappy players.

But yeah, you should always agree with the majority. That's the moral of the story ;-7

Jackal - lol too funny. A little sore still?

13th rd was a good risk. The problem is that some places had him ranked as a top 10-15 SP that yr and that raised the red flags for a large group of fantasy enthusiasts. Sometimes the majority is the majority because they are right. :-b
