is griffey worthy of being picked or is he going to be a disapointment again?

Only if you're willing to draft a player who will only be good for 1/2 the season.

I think he's worth taking a shot at, if he is around maybe 10th round or later. But anyone drafting him has to do so thinking that he'll last only part of the season.

His numbers last year (except BA) were good for the 1/3 of the season he played. I would expect the same. Good ballpark, pretty good lineup.

Try doing a search for Griffey and/or Gimpy.

I know of at least 3 threads in recent history discussing his value next year...and they all say pretty much the same thing: He has value towards the end of the draft because of his power....but his average is nothing impressive and he'll likely get injured. I don't see what else there is to analyze.

First post I ever wrote at the cafe was on this subject before the start of last season:

Quoting myself

"Know this about griffey, he is as healthy as he'll ever be... for now! They are taking him very slowly so that he doesn't get injured and of course look at for him being moved back to seattle."

Ok, so he wont be back in Seattle, but since then I've lost all interest in him being anything more than a sad story.

i drafted burnitz last year... does that count? :-D

seriously, if he can put up 20 hrs/50 rbi in half a season without completely killing my average, i'll gladly burn a 15-20th round pick on him.
