Angels Baseball today announced the team has changed its official name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
With teams changing their names for money, perhaps it's only a matter of time until we get the Nippon Ham Pirates. If the goal here is to enlarge the team's market, maybe they could just use the Calfornia Angels instead. Yeah, that's probably too radical. Jan. 3 - 1:01 pm et

I guess you'll get used to it, but I like the sound of "Anaheim Angels". Seemed to fit better than "LA Angels". :-P

Hell if I'm calling them the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. They're the Angels as far as I'm concerned.

I was reading this yesterday ... I even changed my team name in the VKC to reflect the new

"The Angels Angels of Anaheim" ..

I think its quite funny.

Actually the city of Anaheim will be suing Moreno over this so, its not qute set in stone yet.

Moreno has stripped the name Anaheim for pretty much everything associated with the Angels and Anaheim is not happy about it, since they helped pay for the Stadium recontruction and they had a contract with the Angels.

Hey, another reason for me to hate the Angels. Not as if I needed any.

I live about five minutes from Anaheim Stadium... we're 45 minutes from LA! This is like the Padres deciding to be called the Orange County Padres of San Diego just because it might get them more market. :-t

I just plain dot understand why this was done. This is a little like when the Chicago Bears changed their name to some corporation at Soldier Field. Everyone still calls it Soldier Field and everyone will still call the Angels, the Anaheim Angels.

Personally, I thought the California Angels were cooler anyway.

Well it is all about Market share ... And I agree, I much prefer the name California Angels..

But it is not like there is not a precedent for this ..
The Mighty Ducks are officially called
The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim ..
The stadium was called
Edison Field of Anaheim ..
Then it switched to
Angel Stadium of Anaheim ..

Even Moreno’s limited partner ship excludes the name Anaheim.
It’s just called the "Angels lp"
