I would be very cautious. You should give him a close (non statistical) look during spring training.

He fell apart in the second half, not by chance, but due to mechanics - which he was not able to correct on his own.

If those problems are not addressed, he will continue along the same frustrating path.

Baltimore is more likely.

Last year Vazquez's K rate dropped and BB rate went up (slightly, but still the wrong direction) post-All Star Break. His first half was very good, then he blew up. Unless he's injured, I'd look for him to return to close to his 3-year average. Maybe something like his 2002 season.

Look for a high 3.xx ERA and a 1.2X WHIP, with about 175 Ks. I'd say that would be a pretty decent 7th - 8th round pick.

It's still too early for me to nail down where he goes in the draft, because wwe have no idea who he will be playing for next year. I haven't soured on him like other people have, and contrary to what was said earlier in this thread, many believe he has a good attitude and work ethic. I'm 99% certain he will not be pitching at the BOB. I think that he will go to Texas or Philly, but those are just gut feelings on whimsical rumors.
