wow..i can't believe that everyone has given up on Vazquez. I'd take him in 6th - 7th round if he's available.

Not giving up....

Postby GreenMonsterGoon » Sun Jan 02, 2005 3:35 pm

But a 6th round pick is a pretty sure thing for me (barring injury) and there are too many questions for a 6th rounder.

If he looks good, I'm sure i could trade my 6th rounder for him mid season.

The mid-7th seems just about right for me.

anyone think his value goes down in LA ? .... theyre losing an awful lot of foul territory next year, and the offense is looking really bad again

I haven't seen anything yet as to exactly what chavez ravine is going to look like next season ... its way to early to specualte how it will play.

I don't see the BOB as such as problem. I would rather have him pitching there than in the AL, where the DH will have a worse effect on Ks and ratios. He will not get a ton of wins in AZ, but that division is not an offensive powerhouse so long as you don't play him for the start or two he gets at Coors.

As for the Dodgers, they still have Gagne, which helps mitigate the effect of an offense that is looking truely bad and the expanded foul territory.

I'm too scared that there was some injury to draft him early, but would pick him up in rounds 9 or later. He can't be worse than in te 2nd half of last, can he? ;-7

I would not draft him if he plays on the West Coast next season.

Due to family concerns, he will be miserable.

Let someone else take the risk, and draft someone a little more predictable.

From what I understand, the LA-AZ deal doesn't involve Vazquez, so at this point it looks like he'll be pitching at the BOB.

I don't think I'd take him earlier than the 8th unless I was desperate for a pitcher at that point in the draft. But I like the fact that he's going back to the NL and no matter how bad the D-Backs are it's hard to imagine them being much worse than the '03 Expos and he pitched great for them...

IMO his value would go up if he somehow gets to LA. LA will still be a big pallpark and the Dodgers have much better middle and late relief than AZ.
