Missouri beats Gonzaga

Nice to see Missouri get a win against a good team but the first line of this article really bothers me.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Missouri missed its last 10 shots from the field and six of its last eight free throws - and still managed to hang on against their toughest opponent so far.

Didn't Missouri play #1 ranked Illinois last week?!?!

Thank God. I'm getting pretty sick of everyone *cough* ESPN radio *cough* going on and on about Gonzaga.

That line is pretty funny though, according to the schedules I've found I would think Illinois is a tougher opponent than Div VIII Gonzaga.

This is a good win for Missouri, but Gonzaga is still a very good team. They have beaten two top 5 teams and their only other loss was to #1 Illinois, who has looked unstoppable against virtually everyone. Good win for Mizzou, but don't belittle Gonzaga too much.

Gonzaga is the biggest choke team in the entire division. They haven't done anything in the Big Dance since they were a Cinderella team. Now that they are a powerhouse, they keep losing. (I can't remember who they lost to last year, but I remember them losing in the first round to Wyoming the year before.)

Gonzaga lost to Nevada last year... which sucked. That was an awesome team they had... could (and should) have gone far into the tournament.

I've been watching Gonzaga's games for years now (as they've been the only college team worth watching in eastern Washington - even before they were good) and they seem to struggle against some pretty bad teams every year - more often than I'd care to see. Some nights they look fantasic and the others... well, it can be pretty hard to watch. They always tend to step it up against the "big teams", though...

Ah well - go Gonzaga. When they lost to Illinois, they hadn't been playing well before - not saying they would win if they had a rematch with the way they've been playing recently, but they would have at least had a respectable showing, methinks. They beat two #3 teams in three games and there's never any shame losing to Quin Snyder - a Washington native.

My dad watched him play in the HS tournament and has been following him ever since. Kind of converted me into a Snyder-fan.
