Not as whacked as the Sporting News one, but still some odd things going on. Gotta love the post-bad pick rationalization gor O. Cabrera in the 4th round.
There are just too many things wrong with that to mention them all.
Here are a couple things that really stood out:
3B is not shallow no matter how many experts cling to this sentiment.
He criticized one team for taking Jeter in the 2nd and takes O-Cab in the 4th?
No way Matt Morris lasts til round 23.
That is one ugly looking draft. These guys are supposed to be experts...
A few things that stuck out:
Rollins in the 2nd round... ...unbelieveable, where are these guys in my leagues?
Melvin Mora in the 3rd...
Podsednik in the 4th...
Loretta in the 11th...that seems late for a thin position like 2B
What has happened to Mulder and Zito??? They dropped waaaay down.
"Every government interference in the economy consists of giving an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to some men at the expense of others."-Ayn Rand
The stunning rise of Rollins to fantasy god baffles me as well. Talk about a guy that did nothng until about May of last season.
Melvin Mora I think is a pretty deent player now, but 3rd round is silly. He is an OK pick round 6-9.
Podsednik is was overvalued in the 4th...this guy was near worthless for half the season last year and is nothing but a one category specialist IMO.
Loretta should be going far sooner than the 11th...that is just inane drafting.
Zito I do not think much of either. Mulder's value after going to the NL and the Cards has to retain at least round 6 value IMO even though I am now suspicious of him. Hurt 2 years ago and imploded last year. The innings may be catching up with him or he may be hiding an injury. Then again, he could very well be a stud value pick this year.
O. Cabrera though has to be the dumbest pick I saw in the early rounds.
Looks pretty whacked to me. These "experts" place way too much importance on last year's stats.
Ichiro round 2? He would have to repeat last year's phenomenal stats to justify this pick.
Jeter, Renteria, and Rollins in the 2nd round? I can barely understand the Jeter pick but the other two shortstops went way too high.
Santana went way too low.
Mora is round 3 must be a joke.
Vernon Wells in round 3 is really bad because whoever made that pick is basing it on Well's breakout season TWO years ago. There's plenty of 30/100 guys to choose from, why choose one that went 23/67 last year?
Agree with above poster that the O-Cab pick was really bad. He could have taken Furcal instead.
Clemens in round 6? That's what I call high risk!
Halladay and Zambrano in round 8 is too low.
Figgins in round 8? I love him too, but he doesn't have a starting job yet.
Dallas McPherson over Troy Glaus? Yeah, buddy, good luck with that!

LOL, I agree with all your comments, the last one being the most funny. Figgins does have a job though, he is starting at 2B for Kennedy and in my opinion he will either keep the job, take over 3B (if McPherson is whiffing like crazy) or spot start everywhere. And who do the Angels have at DH (my boy DaVanon?)
RJ, Pierre, and Rollins seem out of place where they were drafted. That's after looking at the first 3 rounds. Huff is bordering on a bad pick too, but I think he has great upside and despite a horrible start had a good year last year. But still, he can be had later, as can comparable 3B's.
4th: Cabrera, Pods
5th: Wright
6th: Guillen I think he was a fluke but we shall see. He's a SS so that helps, and makes the risk a better one.
7th: Guardado and Reyes Dunno about those picks. Reyes I suppose isn't a bad choice if he's healthy, and that's actually a very good pick if he's healthy. But running 90 feet gives this guy a torn hamstring.
8th: A lot of steals in this round. Halladay, Figgins, Lee, Zam, Hafner, and Drew if he's healthy.
After that, Smoltz is a huge steal in the 10th, Loretta and Estrada in the 11th is good value, as are Vidro and Guillen in 12. There are a lot of other great and horrible picks in there too, but I'm not gonna go through them all. It's good to see all the players taht will be severely over and under-rated going into next season... assuming thsi is representative of how average people will draft, either of their own accord or as a result of looking at these ridiculous mock drafts.
