I heard this on the local news last night, but have not found it anywhere else. Can anyone confirm or deny these rumors? Personally I am worried because I do not want this cancer anywhere near my beloved Cardinals!!

He signed a 1 year deal, non-guaranteed, for $500,000.
http://www.stltoday.com/sports/cards He's not the player he used to be but there is little to no risk involved for the Cards.

its non-guaranteed so its no big deal. i think he is just a backup plan. either a regular 2b will be signed or other people will be brought in to compete for the job. if he looks good in ST then they found a bargain. if not, they cut him and owe him nothing.
personally, i think it is a sign that negotiations with cora arent going well. if they can get cairo for cheap they may bring him in and let him compete with alomar for the starting gig.
there are few ball players over my many years of following baseball that i have truly rooted against..steve howe, darryl strawberry, roger clemens...BUT roberto alomar is the poster boy of bad behavior (spitting in ump's face), waste of talent, clubhouse cancer.. he has hit 20 HRs in over 1300 ABs in the last 3 years..during that span he has never hit higher than .266.. he stole ZERO bases in 04.. he is 38 frickin' years old..his defense is laughable..the cardinals are wasting time and money if they think this clown is going to help their team..whew!!

I don't see what there is to get so upset about. It's non-guaranteed. If he does well he plays if not he is gone. Well worth the risk IMO.
