It has been reported that he signed with the Cards for a 1 year $500,000 deal, non-guaranteed.story
Sounds like the Cards are taking the same approach with 2B as last year, sign some retreads and hope one pans out. Alomar seems like plan A but I bet Walt has a couple of backup plans.
i take it as a sign that negotiations with cora arent going too well. alomar is a decent back up plan. his numbers in AZ before the injury were pretty solid although that was a small sample size. i really hope that walt brings in someone besides luna and abraham nunez to compete for the job though. odds are good that alomar gets injured at some point. in fact, last i heard he re-injured his back in winter league.
Yeah, Robbie couldn't have to much left in the tank ...
What about that super sub STL had last year, the rule 5 guy ..what was his name.. Luna .. Is he going back to AAA? or is he getting a chance to compete for the job?
He's gonna get a chance to compete, but he's still in the bench phase of his career. If he improves, I would think he might be a starter in a year or two tops, but I'm sure j_d will give you some better input than that.

I think it is pretty much going to be a Spring Training free for all between Alomar, Luna, Hart and whatever other retreads are invited.

sounds about right. personally i think luna could use some regular at bats in AAA but i have no idea what their plans for him are. it probably depends on what happens in ST.
I think AAA would be good for Luna .. He seemed to excell at each and every level in the minors so the development would be good for him. The guys has some nice wheels and decent contact skills, so he could easily be the 2B of the future. Now if anybody knew how old he actually was, that would be cool
I think more regular PT for Luna in Memphis would really help him. It would have been nice to stash him down there last year for that purpose, but the stupid Rule 5 rules wouldn't allow that. It looks like it's pretty much Alomar's job to lose as of now unless Walt's got something up his sleeve. I don't think Luna is ready for a full time major league spot yet and I'm not really sure Hart will every amount to more than a bench player in the bigs. Overall it's a pretty good deal I think since $500k surely won't break the bank.
