Let's not be too short sided here, while tejada put up near identical numbers at a much more scarce position last year they are not so comparable for his career. In my humble opinion it is a slight to Vlad to place Tejada and his .276 career avg over him.

I don't believe it's too useful to take into account Tejada's BA from '97 - '99. Over the last three years Tejada has batted .308, .278, .311, respectively. Even if Tejada bats .280 he'll still be more valuable than Vlad. It has nothing to do with slighting Vlad. There is just more talent in that upper tier of OFers along with Vlad than there is in the upper tier of SSs. If you think Tejada is going to have a pre-2000 year then granted Vlad is more valuable but that just isn't going to happen IMO.

I guess we're "outside-the-box" thinkers. :-b

If these three played the same position then it would be:

Vlad
Manny
Tejada

But because of Tejada's position and the lack of depth at shortstop, he edges Manny out by a very slmi margin. This is difficult for me to say being a Red Sox fan but you have to put aside team biases when it comes to fantasy baseball.

I would definitely take Vlad ahead of Tejada in the first round.

I'd rank them

Vlad
Tejada
Manny
