Say that again, with a straight face this time. So you're gonna tell me that the Washington Nationals have as much money as the New York Yankees? Uh huh. Ok.

I can't keep a straight face, I have botox.

It should be real interesting to see where the salaries go when the luxury tax disappears after 2006. Good riddance. For some reason I just don't think its served as any type of spending deterrent for the big market owners and it hasnt been that much of boon for smaller market teams.

This one is true however: The Yankees do not have the wealthiest owner in baseball, their owner just wants to win more than most.

I still find it funny that people are upset the Yankees spend their money instead of eating it.

The Yankees made $24 million in pure profit last year if you include revenue from the YES network. Are you guys asking George to pocket more cash instead of reinvesting it? :-?

I'd rather have an owner who spends team revenue on the team than an owner like they have in Oakland who is filthy rich and looks at the team as another sorce of income.

Harden- 2.15 ERA, 7.61 K/9
Peavy - 2.89 ERA, 10.10 K/9

Do you really expect the baseball community to embrace the Yankees ludicrous spending?

They made more than $24 million in profit, not including the profit from the YES network. The Red Sox in a smaller Ballpark made more than 25 million not including NESN. These owners can afford to spend money because they are gross close to $300 million (and probably more). you are looking at 150 million dollars just from ticket sales.
