News
Outfielder Carlos Beltran is a popular guy. On Tuesday he met with Yankees' owner George Steinbrenner and on Wednesday he was offered a huge contract by the Astros. According to the Houston Chronicle, the club offered Beltran a six-year, $96 million deal, which is $26 million more than the Astros offered a couple of weeks ago. Houston has until January 8 to sign the outfielder or else they will lose the right to negotiate with him until May. Beltran hit .267 with 38 home runs and 104 RBI last season for the Royals and Astros.

Views
The Yankees and Astros are the favorites to land Beltran, but the Cubs are trying to get rid of the Sammy Sosa so they can make a run at him too. There will be no negotiations between Beltran and any team this weekend because of Christmas but the Astros will be making another push for him next week in order to try and sign him before the January 8 deadline.

Wrong forum! this forum is reserved for pointless comments, strange stories, retards and bickering...along with the occasional poll or 20...so take your "Fantasy Baseball Talk," and put it where it belongs.

I still think he's nuts if he goes to NY. That's a ton of money for just 6 years of your life

Houston is saying that the reports are bogus and that their offer wasn't that high. Although they could be lying.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Another thing, is he won't have to deal with A-rod and Jeter all the time, Im sure they get Annoying. Also he will be in one of the best hitters park's in the L......

If the Yankees manage to get Beltran then they will have the single most powerful and intimidating line-up that I will ever see in my lifetime, and it will finally prove that there is in fact no God.

The mid 70's Reds are the best in my lifetime and would be better than the yankees with Beltran imho B-)
