Is he going to be some sort of haphazard enigma again or will he be worth making a #1 SP out of on my team?

If Zito was my #1 SP I would be a little worried.

well, he doesn't have to be cy young, but 16/3.3/1.30/175 would be nice.

Agreed. I wouldnt want him for anything more than a 3rd pitcher on my team.

Rugby - Im not sure anyone will tell you he's a bonafide #1 for fantasy purposes even in a deep league. I can see using him as a #2, but there are too many issues that have come up over the last 2 years for you to consider him a #1. His first half swoon alone is tough to take. If anything, Id try and trade for him after he starts off slow once again - let his pricetag drop even further.

it's possible that zito's value went up after the season ended. on a draft i think people will take a chance on him cuz they figure he can't be as bad as he was last year. in bad i mean compared to his cy young year, cuz, i might be alone on this one, i don't think he pitched that poorly last season.

i don't think you should rely on him as the #1 SP on your team and i'd also be worried if he was my #2.

i think Cornbread Maxwell gave a good advice that you should let someone else draft him and then trade for him if he has a slow start, but don't overpay for him, people tend to overvalue players who have won awards.

OK, so no cheap ace. I'm figuring he will go round 8-9 ish in a 12-team?

Zito is a #2 fantasy starter at best coming into this season.

in my only draft so far this off season he was taken late 10th round after buehrle before wade miller. it's a 12 team and i think that was about the right time to take him. if he's still available after the 10th round...good pick IMO, depending on your team of course.
