Remember too that the Celeron is a budget chip. You won't get spectacular out of it like you will a Pentium (but you probably saved some dollars as a trade off).
Like they say above, post your specs (processor speed, amount of RAM, video card are good places to start). Likely, one of those components could be bottlenecking your system. Also, check the specs on the game box to see if your system doesn't meet one of the requirements.
One thing you can basically and quickly check without too much trouble is your Task Manager (press CTRL+ALT+DEL, then click on the Processes tab, click on the CPU column and see if you have anything running using alot of system resources, the higher the number the more of a system hog it is). Try this without running your game then start up the game and do it again to see if the game is hogging your system.
Hope some of this helps.
P.S. Whatever happens, I beg you, do NOT call that ripoff Geek Squad that Best Buy is running now. They charge megabucks for run of the mill repairs/diagnostics.
1. Processor Celeron ?? GHZ??
2. Ram 256mb??
3. Video Card did you buy one or did it come with the Vaio??
4. What resolution do you have it set on??? 800 x 600?
5. What graphic options are you using? For example do you have the scoreboard on? Camera views etc.
If you can get me this info then I can tell you what to do to get it to run better...Trust me your computer is not broken you probably just are over taxing it.
A Vaio most likely has an on-board ATI which may be the problem.
I would format the HDD, reinstall Windows, install DirectX, and updated drives for your motherboard (and/or video card). And on-board unit usually doesn't have seperate drivers. Then re-install MVP.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

What?!?!?!?!?!??!? Don't do that give me a break!!!
Format the HDD and reinstall windows....DO NOT DO THAT!!!!
Geez all he needs to do is probably turn down his settings or buy a graphics card to add in.

DO NOT REFORMAT YOUR HARDDRIVE
Please, spare me. Whenever I install a new game this is exactly what I do (unless ghosting is an option). I do have the luxury of a dedicated gaming box. This is the quickest and cleanest way to tell if a game is struggling because of the hardware. And yes I know how to tweak a box but when someone comes on the FBC asking for this advice chances are they do not.

Are you really suggesting wipping out his harddrive to play MVP 2004?? Its obviously onboard graphics which is causing the problem...It would be a huge waste of time to Whipe the drive then reformat it and then reinstall windows...
were talking an 1 1/2 process here..
Listen check your setting...Fiddle with them in the game..learn what settings make your game stutter...
Yes update your drivers...But please don't follow amazinz advice...worst idea ever.
Ok, thanks so far...here's the info y'all probaly need....
512 MB RAM
1.50 GHz
Intel Inside Centrino
I've turned the resolution as low as possible in the game settings. I think it's my graphics card that's not made for this game.....Also the "TFT-Display" probably slows the picture movement down a little too....
