Dodgers out of Johnson deal

Well for all those Vaz apologists around here, here is some more great food for thought from Newsday via the AP:

"Newsday reported on its Web site Tuesday night that Vazquez did not want to play for the Dodgers and refused to travel to Los Angeles for a physical. The paper, citing a source involved in the discussions. cited that as the ``primary reason'' for the deal's collapse. "

If true (And I have no knowledge one way or the other on it), I am sure all those Yank fans still prophesing what a great talent Vaz is will admire this symbol of professionalism and character. He does not have a NTC. At least Cashman got that part right.

I think it's safe to say some people can stop blaming DePo for this.

And, Yanks04, you never answered my question. Why don't you want to run Rivera out of town? And if RJ struggles next year--for a half a year--will you want to get rid of him, too?
I'm back. Sorta.

Because the questions by their very nature are mocking and not warranting of a response as you know the answers.

But if you insist, last I saw RJ had how many Cy Youngs and has done how well in the playoffs? If he stinks it up it will be a product of injury/bad luck, not lack of ability or guts.

Last I saw Mo has helped us win how many pennants and WS rings. No one is perfect.

Last I saw what has Vaz proven when the chips were on the line either in the heat of a pennant race or in the playoffs?..oh yeah...NOTHING.

Oh and just to prove a further point, the following are game logs of Vazquez from his good first half. You will note the
Red Sox shelling in April...followed by one decent performance later in the month (He beat up on KC and CHW though). Followed by a less than spectacular May with torchings by Oak and Ana and TB...followed by an outstanding June against the O's twice. Rox, SD, LA and one start vs Bos. Nice set of generally weak NL teams offensively padding the stats. And we all know what happened in July-Oct. AS pick or not, this is supposed to get me excited about his ability?

I still think vazquez has potential if we give him a chance. This would be like the Giants shipping out Eli after his first four starts.

Ah, I see. For Mo and RJ, a body of work counts. But for Vaz, only his bad times count. This is rather unfair, don't you think?

In a word...No. You ain't in Montreal around 3000 fans anymore there Javy. He never pitched a meaningful game is his MLB career before 2004.
