If RJ sucks next year, are you going to want to get rid of him, too? One year does not make a pitcher.

Well with Yanks04, its not even one bad year, its a bad HALF year :-t

I think the anger that Dodger Fans have towards Depodesta is misguided. The anger should probably be towards Mccourt. ..
I promise you this though ..
The Angels, just down the freeway, are estatitic as hell that this is all unfolding ..

I think the Dodgers are making out like bandits on this trade. Getting rid of Green's salary alone is worth it. That is, if you can spend the money elsewhere--which apparently killed the deal.
I'm back. Sorta.

Who didn't choke against the red sox in the playoffs? If I remember correctly they kicked everyone's tail. Vazquez is a quality pitcher and I think he'll do great in LA. He won't get the run support that he got with the Yanks but he's no stranger to that in his career. I'm hoping the Braves will move Andruw out to LA for Vazquez and Weaver. that would rock...

I think he should turn on Rivera--if he didn't blow the series, Vazquez would never have been put in that spot--bases loaded...

He is now my new favorite GM. He may have backed out of this deal for the best intrest of the game. Even real GM's have to realize that the Yankees are ruining the game we all love.

And when Vaz blows up in the 05 post-season I am sure all the Vaz apologists willl proclaim what great talent he has. Please. Any pitcher is a risk. What is the better risk/reward ratio if you are the GM of the Yanks trying to win a WS in 05 and 06...Vaz or RJ?

Would you bet your job on Vaz not being a stiff in 05 just to save George 4M a year and a C prospect? Would you be more afraid of Vaz being a stiff or RJ falling apart? Talk is cheap but the idea is to win, not to manage a fantasy auction team on a salary cap and squeeze value out of every dollar. I can't see how anyone would feel the Yanks have a better shot at winning it all with Vaz over RJ.

It's not anger it is the truth. ESPN reported tonight that if/when they get Johnson there payroll just for Sp's will be 100 million. That is crazy. I guess if you cant win it buy it right?

I don't think that the Yankees are ruining baseball but the Mets have a ~$81M payroll, Sox ~$120 and the Yankees closing in on the 200 mark. :-b

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
