Doesn't look good for the Cards landing Polanco. I was really getting excited about maybe getting him so at least part of the MI would be set -- either SS or 2B. Now it looks like Cabrera will be the only viable option in the FA market or it's a MI of Luna and who knows? Something I've been heard kicked around (mostly on national ESPN radio type networks) is that Hart would be ready to step in and take over 2B and they would give any SS that he has come up with the chance in STL to keep continuity defensively. I haven't really heard much about Hart here or at Cardinal forums so I wasn't really giving him a second thought. Anyone here know more about his situation than me? As for calling up a SS from the minors I don't see that one happening at all. Luna is still young enough to be viable isn't he? His defense isn't GG quality, but he'd be servicable and maybe regular PT may help him out a little offensively? Guess this wasn't about Polanco much, just my usual ramblings.

we could still trade for polanco. phillies dont really want to pay him what he will get in arbitration so i dont think it would take too much to get him.

i think we are looking at barry larkin (backed up by luna) at ss and a trade for a 2b, possibily hairston jr. that wouldnt be too bad. i just dont think luna or hart is capable of being a full time starter, although hart did .299 in AAA last year.
