It's a great trade for the Dodgers. First, Sean Green is gone, freeing up $16M they can use to land a good SP and a good OF. Hopefully Clement, who they are known to be after, and Maggs. Second, they get rid of Penny, who although a good pitcher is an injury risk, for Vasquez, who is an iron man who should regain form back in the NL and absolutely thrive at Dodger Stadium. On top of all of this they get the Yankees top two prospects. Brazoban wil be missed, but that is a small negative compared to all the positives. If DePodesta can pull all of this off, the Dodgers will have a line-up that although far from stellar, can get the job done and a great rotation and a much better team overall than last year:
Rotation
Vasquez
Clement
Weaver
Iishi
Jackson?
Line-up
C Johnson? Piersynski?
1B Choi (they need someone to platoon with him)
2B Cora
3B Kent
SS Izturiz
LF Werth
CF Bradley
RF Ordonez? Alou?
Bullpen
Some gaps that need to be filled, but they still have Gagne.
