True, but I was looking for a way to dump Chipper and open a spot for Marte. Plus, they just signed Kent, and I doubt either would be that good at 3B. Plus, I like Giles, so I'd rather keep him.

No worries. I'm not Schuerholz or anyone else with the Braves, so what I say is pure speculation. I'm sure he'll be there for a while.

And I doubt they'll trade him anyway. I do think they have a decision, though, if he only wants to play 3B and what to do with Marte.

Like I been trying to say all of you guys who keep saying Billy lost his mind bla bla............you guys are the idiots. He isnt playing Fantasy Baseball here, this is real life GM'ng, the A's have VERY LITTLE money only about 60 million to spend per season. This trade is good for this SEASON and long term.

I dont think Peter Gammons is very smart but he is CORRECT in this article on why the A's got a good deal

Now imo like I been saying Mulder is still an ACE even though he fell apart in septemeber which was due to fatigue. Zito while not a #1 starter is still a great #2, and Harden has the stuff to be the Staff ACE for right now. He was the A's BEST starter after the break last season.

I think Cruz and Blanton will be the #4 and #5 and when he is ready Meyer will come into the rotation and either Cruz or Blanton will go to the Pen.

The A's had NO closer until June when they traded for Dotel and thus blew game after game b/c the pen sucked

Eric Chavez missed 2 months with a broken hand


You guys fail to realise the A's are still contenders in the AL west, like they are every year.

Zito bounces back
Dotel closing all year long
Harden pitching like he did in the 2nd half last season
Blanton and Cruz pitch even decent (they are capable of more)
Kendall an all star catcher

The a's are again ready to make a run in 2005.

Dotel is about 2 million times better then Arthur Rhodes.

When are you guys going to give billy some credit. The a's won 90+ games last 5 years. Made the playoffs 4/5 years, and won the division 3 years out of 5.

The A's Financial abiltites are WAY BELOW that of The mariners, Angels, and Rangers.

Billy does not have the $$$$ rescources, yet he still puts out a winning and competing team each year.

WHAT MORE CAN YOU FRICKIN ASK FOR? when your givin 60 mill to work with each year
and
the Mariners hand out over 100 million in 24 hours to two players?
or
the Angels sign Vladdy to an 80 million dollar deal?
or
the Rangers are making trades with a guy who makes 20+ mill a year (trading away arod)

Billy limited resources way below those 3 teams, yet he has the most divison titles and wins over last 5 years in the west?

The question I have for you, GSes: Why trade Hudson now? Why not at least wait till July? Why not ride him into the playoffs with a more experienced SS, a better catcher, a closer for the whole year? Why not do with Hudson what you did for Giambi and Tejada--try to win with them? The only way I see why you trade Hudson now is to make your team for THIS YEAR better--and Beane didn't do that.
