Bonds' value plummeting?

Postby Danimal » Thu Dec 16, 2004 4:19 pm

Our keeper league counts hits and walks on an equal value, so Barry Bonds was by far the biggest fantasy points guy last year. Due to the roids thing and a desire to move up in the draft, I'm trying to trade him and am getting no reaction. I'm not asking for the world (Oswalt and a pick, Pavano and a pick for example). One guy said he had no interest.
I'm a bit shocked. Any thoughts?

I'd say that if interest is really that low then keep him and ride his gawdy numbers. Once the season rolls around and people see that he continues to mash even with all the roid talk maybe then you'll be able to move him.

Bonds for Pavano and a pick would be highway robbery, I can't believe it was denied. Stop offering those deals or you may find someone sane enough to ignore the roids talk.

Yeah, I wouldn't trade Bonds right now. You are not going to get a good deal.

There's an unreasonable fear out there that he'll pull a Ricky Williams. So hold on to him and trade him a couple of months into the season if you still want to unload him.

Keep him. Unless he falls off a cliff, he'll still be very valuable in your league. If you don't want him on your team, then his value has fallen - to you - as you don't want to keep him despite his status as #1 player in your league. So keep him or expect that you'll end up with less than what you think he's worth.

I should have tried to move him six weeks ago!

Personally, I just don't like the guy, but he's still a fantasy stud.

i would hold onto him for now. he was probably off roids for most or all of last year and still hit well. hard to say what will happen next year. maybe teams will think since he is probably off the juice they can sneak the ball by him and try to pitch to him a little more often.

In a league that counts walks Barry is arguably the #1 player. Pavano and a pick? Hold on to him. He is much more valuable than that.
