Dunn actually hit .266 last season.....A-Rod at #3 overall is just about right.....The only person I'd take over him is Pujols. A-Rod plays every day, every season and puts up monster numbers.....The picks that surprised me are Randy Johnson, Ben Sheets, Ivan Rodriguez, David Ortiz, and Derek Jeter. I personally wouldn't take Santana that high either. He hasn't proven that he will stay healthy from season to season. Just think of all the people that took Mark Prior early in the 1st round last year. One great season doesn't make you a 1st round pick, IMO.
It amazes me that year after year fantasy players let the previous season's results affect their opinions as much as they do.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.
In a keeper I wouldn't argue with Arod at #3, but in a redraft (which I'm assuming this mock is intended for) the depth of talent at 3B knocks Arod down IMO. I know a lot of people will choke on their sodas and spit on their screen so brace yourself ... let someone else have Arod in the 1st, I wouldn't grab him until the 2nd.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
I dont' mind Sheets being taken in the second round His K/BB was so good last year that to fall back to anywhere near where he was before would be impossible i think. But since nobody else feels that way, I'd probably wait until the third round at least before I even thought of taking him. Especially with Prior still out there, I wouldn't consider Sheets. Prior is #1 IMO.
I don't mind the Chavez pick either; some would argue that Beltre is the better pick, and he could be, but Chavez is gonna go off big time this year I think. I have him ahead of Rolen.
And I'm not sure about the Dunn pick. Can he keep his BA up that "high"? The the Reds be any good, or will it be only HR's that he provides w/o R and RBI? Is he done stealing bases? I wouldn't take him that early... he's Sexson without the BA, and Sexson was still on the board (I suppose if he goes to Seattle that would hurt his value though).

Then you obviously wouldn't be grabbing him...because he's be long gone. Regardless of league type A-Rod has to be a top 5 pick at the very least. Even if 3B is deep this year, not many of them hit 40+ HR's and had 25+ SB's. That production from any position is 1st round material.
