Well as a Royals fan i'm going to throw out another guy. Jeremy Affeldt. If he can put together a full season without set backs of any kind, he has the stuff to have a really good year!! 97+ mph heater with a NASTY hook. Could easily be top 10 closer this year if all falls into place, but that is the problem, everything will have to go right for him this year!
Burnett; I expect him to be among the top 10 NL starters (if he stays?) altho with the hype he's getting here he won't last as long as I had hoped Webb; I watched him press way too hard in 04 (that inf D was horrendous and ZERO RS) The sad state of our inf is that I expect the unspectacluar play of Counsel, Clayton, and Glaus to make a huge difference to Brandon.
Everyone I was thinking of was already mentioned except John Thomson. He was very good in the second half last season and under the tutelage of Leo Mazzone I see no reason why it won't carry over to next season.
How 'bout some less obvious picks: Im keeping my eye on Eric Bedard (great minor league resume, below most radars and most teams name him in trade discussions with the O's), Zach Greinke (pretty good numbers after being called up), Bonderman (no surprise here), and if you dont consider Rich Harden and Oliver Perez already "broken out", I'd say they are good choices...
Runelvys Hernandez Zack Greinke Kyle Snyder Kevin Appier Jimmy Gobble
I thought Appier retired. No? Well he should have
He resigned to a minor league contract. Although that is overstating the obvious. Everyone player who signs a contract with the Royals are signing a minor league contract.
