Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Because there is a shortage of players who could match his output as a relief pitcher but a lot of guys who can equal his output as a starter.

That's a really good question. Could be a steal in the fifth round.
Smoltz 37 yrs old 2,700 IP career
Schilling 38 yrs old 2,812 IP career
RJ 41 yrs old 3,368 IP career
Clemens 42 yrs old 4,500 IP career
Is there any reason that Smoltz shouldn't be in the same league as these other 3? ERA, WHIP, k/9 very similar to these 3, he just hasn't pitched as many innings. Is that a bad thing? For me its a positive. His elbow problems were back in 1999 and he is clearly over them now. He averaged 15 wins/ season over 11 years as a starter and got a Cy Young. He is flying under the radar and is a great sleeper pick IMO.
