Seems to me that Renteria and Cabrera have about the same real-life value. The team that grabs O-Cab will have gotten a bargain since it will presumably be more a fair bit less than Renteria.

Renteria is a quiet guy. He has played in STL for the last 6 seasons and I don't think I have ever seen him talk. I'm not sure how he would react to the media in Boston.

HUH? How do you figure? Renteria is clearly a far superior hitter. Cabrera might have a small edge in defense, but Renteria is quite good himself.

I do not understand the A's fixation on a 2b. It i s not like they have a loaded offense elsewhere. They could use solid sticks at just about every position with the exception of 3b, c and ss. Their bullpen is a joke too.
