I have done fantasy baseball but I have no experience in auction leagues and I now find myself taking over a team in a $260 cap salary/contract league.

Have a coupla questions.

1. With specific LF RF CF positions (also new to me), it would seem the value of OFs would increase. Scarcity, a key in the infield positions, now appears in the outfield. For '05 how would you rank all of the 8 offensive positions in terms of scarcity in a 14 team league?

2. I have some players with multiple year commitments at what I believe is below market value, say IROD at $8 for 05 AND 06.
Am I wrong in thinking his value is increased because I've got a top catcher cheap for this year AND next year avoiding open bidding.

3. Any sites (i know USAToday does but doesn't have OPS) where I can enter categories and get a feel for $ values. New mags aren't out yet.

OPS can be derived on the site from OBP and slugging pct. Check off both categories.

but all OFs are grouped together

wouldn't LFs and Cfs and RFs have different values based on scarcity.

Proabably, but I would doubt the difference is much to worry over. There are plenty of slugging OFs at all 3 positions. Maybe CF might be a little more rarified, but I doubt it makes a lot of difference like 2b or C or even SS.

Baseball Notebook's pay service does a really good job of tailoring a lot of projections to your scoring style, and giving appropriate dollar values. Their first projection set for 2005 is out, and will definitely give you something to chew on until magazines come out, if you're hooked on those.
