Well, I'm not stating that he'll win the Cy. But, as with Pavano, Millwood has the potential to be very good as well, having two seasons just as good as anything Pavano has done. And, like Pavano, he could stink it up next year. You seem to be forgetting that Millwood is only 1 year older and has only been around 1 year longer than Pavano. If Millwood is "established," then so is Pavano.

All that said, he can be a solid #3, something Byrd or Wright likely won't be. And, unlike the Yankees, most teams can't have a #1 or #2 in each spot in the rotation, so they actually have to put a rotation together on a budget with an acknowledgement that you sometimes you can only afford to have a #3 or even #4 starter, if properly priced.

So if they trade for Hudson and sign Millwood for 1 year and app. $5M, I could see Braves fans being very happy.

I think he'll get 13-15 wins, 4.15 ERA 1.25WHIP 145K's

ERA will climb due to moving to AL & he will "probably" be the #4 guy in the rotation...good spot for wins.

I'd say 12 W, 4.30 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and about 110 K in 180 IP.

Pavano has the potential to be very good. Wright I am not high on either ...the Mets paid 7.5M for Benson, making just about anyone a good signing at 5M...so what? Millwood has been around for years and you know what he is...a mediocre-plus SP who is capable but not likely of having a pretty good season. This guy is not going to be some savoir for anyone/ Hudson is a top SP. Millwood is nothing more than a decent #3 IMO and may not even be that good in a bad year.

I just went back and read this post. I guarantee you if the yankees signed Millwood you'd be singing a different tune. The fact is that most years millwood will bring you 200ip and a low 4.00 Era and at least 12-15 wins. That's definitely worth $5 million in today's economy

I owned Millwood in 2000...trust me, I think he is a bum. The Phillies thought he was decent tand paid BIG bucks for him...that was a mistake.

Anyone is a bargain at 5M these days. Millwood is not going to sign for that. Why should he when guys like Benson are getting 7.5M?

That's true..

The only thing I can think of is if he signs with the Braves and has an awesome year then next year he can sign with the Mets for 5 years/60 million. So in essence he would get a big pay raise by taking a temporary pay cut.
