In addition to Closser, the Rockies will give youngsters Garrett Atkins and Clint Barmes a chance to step into starting roles in '05. Atkins batted .366 with 15 home runs, 43 doubles, and 94 RBI in 445 at-bats for Triple-A Colorado Springs last season. He could be the team's starting third baseman with a strong spring, while Barmes, who hit .328 with 16 home runs, 42 doubles, and 20 stolen bases at Colorado Springs, could replace Clayton as the new shortstop. Both Atkins and Barmes had impressive late-season stints with the Rockies. Aaron Miles and Todd Helton are set on the right side of the infield with Matt Holliday, Preston Wilson, and someone else (perhaps young Brad Hawpe or a veteran acquisition) set to man the three outfield spots
So is Miles really a starter? I though I heard that Barmes might start at 2nd this season...
1. Miles (2B)
2. Barmes (SS)
3. Helton (1B)
4. P. Wilson (CF)
5. M. Holliday (LF)
6. Atkins (3B)
7. Closser (C)
8. ??? (RF)
9 Pitcher (P)

Fantasy sports are ruled by the 50-50-90 rule...
Anytime you have a 50/50 choice between two players, 90% of the time, you'll get it wrong
well I know the Rockies have been shopping Preston Wilson around quite a bit ..
While Aaron Miles is not a starter on most teams, the Rockies seem content on giving him every opportunity ..
And I thought they were very dissapointed with Atkins defense at 3B. Its really tough to say what they will look like next season, becasue there are a ton of free agents still out there, and the Rockies may not make a push to sign anybody till after the first of the year..
so I guess I would say that the only definate is that Todd the God will be manning 1B
actually the Colorado paper says they plan to go with Hawpe, but spring training can change alot of things. Also they said Luis Gonzalez will be allowed to compete with Atkins for 3rd.
