A year after cleaning up in the Richie Sexson trade, you just got a premiere OF (Carlos Lee) for Scott Podsednik (!), and probably the best pitching prospect in the Braves organization (Capellan). Futhermore, you have one of the best farm systems in the Majors.

Now all the Brew Crew needs to do is raise their payroll allotment to 200 million, and they can really be contenders. ;-D

He's definitely done pretty well. And if he can get M. Byrd for Bennett, he could pull another rabbit out if Byrd can turn it around without the pressures put on him by Bowa.

While he has done a good job so far, having a good farm system won't do much good until they loosen the pursestrings some.

agreed...and hopes that he is there long enough to see the farm system start to produce in the majors......

Hardy should be up this year, or atleast I hope. He looks good, very good. Years of sucking does payoff when you draft well.

I love that Carlos Lee deal. How many jacks will he hit next year in that little park? His stock just took a little bump, IMO.

I've heard nothing but great things about Capellan, too.

The Carlos Lee deal was a win/win for both sides.

I agree that Melvin has done an outstanding job so far....now let's see if his payroll will elevate enough to actually keep some of these players he's bringing up. :-?

Carlos just left the AL's best hitters park in 04. And for the last few years, had better protection in the Chicago lineup than I think he will get in MIL......That being said, I dont think his HR will be affected much, and he may take a little time to initially get used to NL pitchers......He will still be a fine OF for next year , just dont expect any real jump in stats...Rotodog
