When do the first fantasy baseball mags. come out? Not that I live and die by them, but they are nice to have for in the crapper.

I thought I picked one up right before X-mas last year.

The first ones usually come out around Christmas I think but they aren't worth a bean because they are usually done a week or more before they go to print and most of the big free agents aren't even signed. I remember last year Sporting News came out before Vlad had even signed on with the Angels and they had his production pretty low.

I'd say they should start hitting the stands soon.

similarly can anyone recommend the best ones (I'm going to have a bunch of layovers come christmas break and numerous train rides that i'll need to pass the time) which magazines are worth their weight?

I like the product that Rotoworld.com puts together. You can order it online or pick it up at specialty newstands.

The stuff that ESPN the Mag and SI put out is pretty sad.

Baseball America is a great year-round magazine for hardcore baseball fans (just incase you cannot wait).
