Come on everyone this is the METS where talking about. The same team that couldn't land Arod/Vlad, ect... I know management wants to make a splash but can't even fathom landing a guy like Manny. Maybe if Manny were 10 years older and 50 pounds heavier would it make more sense to me. We haven't exactly made stellar trades over the past few years (although the Alomar deal seemed great), and the dumping two years ago hopefully will net some solid players.

Then they could move him to first and call him Mo

One of the most intimidating hitters in baseball for an unproven shortstop? Being a yankees fan I say go for it!
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

This would be a good deal for both teams. The Mets need a stud and Manny is one of the best hitters in the game. The Sox need a SS, Matsui would be decent. Reneteria for 10 mil is crazy. O. Cabrera is about the same calibur player as Matsui, but Matsi is cheaper. NOW the reason this would be a good deal for the Sox is that the Sox would then sign Beltran for less money than Manny. So really the deal is:
Mets get Manny
Sox get Beltran, Matsui and save money.
Of the course the Sox should not do this unless they are sure Beltran would sign with them.
Just my take,
Cow

Almost as great as signing Tony Womack for two years

There's nothing wrong with the Womack signing. It was cheap and they can always find someone else.
This possible trade is very very different.
