Manny to the Mets???

Postby killiansjmd » Mon Dec 13, 2004 10:49 am

Reports in a couple of NY papers this morning said the Mets and Red Sox are talking about Manny Ramirez. Mets would like to send Floyd to the Sox but the Red Sox want Kaz Matsui. Red Sox management feels that most of Kaz's 23 errors were the result of Piazza playing first.

I am skeptical that the Sox would move Manny, but should this happen it would seem to open to the door for Soriano to come to the Mets, since the only sticking point as I understand it was that he wants to play 2B and not OF.

Actually there are some conflicting articles in the NY papers today about this. NY Daily News says the Mets have turned down a Ramirez for Floyd deal.

While Newsday is saying something else???

Not a chance.

Only thing I've heard concerning the Mets is Millar or Minky for Matsui.

No way the Sox move Manny imo. He was a big part in helping them win last year. I dont see it happening.

If I'm reading right, the impotus behind the move (for the Sox anyways) would be to free up money so that the Sox could then sign Delgado and Renteria. I want no part of Floyd, don't want his knees in the OF and Boston already has a DH in Ortiz.

I'm a bit shocked about it too. The salary problem is less than last year since their's obviously one less year on the contract. And the guy was the WS MVP. I don't get it.
