Looks like Pedro's coming back

From Rotoworld and Dirt Dogs:

CBS-4 in Boston is reporting that Pedro Martinez and the Red Sox will finalize a three-year, $40 million contract within the next 24-48 hours.
It's still a rumor at this point, but ESPN's Peter Gammons is also reporting that the deal is close.

I thought Boston wasn't going to go three years? Or was it four? :-? I don't remember. :-D The money seems about right though.

I'm almost positive it was four. Don't quote me on that though.

Personally, I think this is a great way to reel in Pavano. Having Schill on staff and now Pedro back provides Pavano with the chance to pick the brains of two of the best pitchers in the league, which he's said is a factor to him.

He was on Mike and the Dog this evening and if I remember correctly, his priorities for where he'll sign go in this order:

1)Happiness (And he said money can't buy happiness)
2)Team defense behind him
3)Chance to win (I think this is it, this is the one I'm most fuzzy about)
4) Money

Defense aside, I think the Sox match all the criteria. Should be interesting to see how everything unfolds.

Arroyo

Thats a pretty good top 4, don'tcha think?

Is Wakefield under contract? Retiring? Moving via FA? Or what?

well if that's the case then That sounds like a good comprimise. 13 million a year average. Not too shabby for either side.
