Russ Ortiz - S - ATL

According to the Arizona Republic's Bob McManaman, the Diamondbacks are on the verge of signing Russ Ortiz.
The Diamondbacks likely will overpay, but they can't possibly give Ortiz the $10 million he wants. He should be another pitcher making around $21 million-$24 million over three years. Dec. 9 - 8:49 pm et

Well if a pitcher needs to have his value killed, other than Colorado, 'Zona is about as bad as it gets.

He'll give up a ton of HR's, he'll get no run support, he'll also have to pitch games in Coors Field to add salt to his wounds.

If I was a pitcher I don't think I'd sign a contract with Colorado or Arizona because it'll kill your market value for when you next hit free agency.

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

sure doesn't make any sense for them to dump that much into Ortiz but that's why one man's junk is another man's treasure. I'm glad the Braves didn't overspend for him myself.

hey..i just found this

ESPN's Peter Gammons is reporting that Russ Ortiz will get a four-year, $34 million contract from the Diamondbacks.

That's actually not such a bad deal for the diamondbacks 8.5 million/year average.
