Lo, AJ, I should have added the clause "if he thought it would improve the team." I wasn't dogging on Jeter here. I was just saying that to think you need to trade a Jeter/Nomar player to improve your team is one thing, but to do it is all together different.
And, yeah, I'd also agree that Jeter probably meant more to NY than Nomar meant to Boston, and his injuries made it easier, etc.

I understand and I'm saying that Jeter, like Torre, has icon status in NY. It would be suicide to deal him, even if you got great value.
I'm not saying that I agree with this. I am only stating what is true.

no kidding... imagine that ..
$#%^ the Yankees and $%^# the Red Sox ...
Schuerholz has put a championship caliber team on the field for the last 14 years, and did I read where somebody said that he was simply the least inept in the the division? ... pleeaase ... and during that time he has had two WS winners come out of his division
The season is 162 games long, do you have any idea how hard it is to stay on top for 162 games .... for 14 seasons ... ?? and then saying he sucks because he comes up short in a best of 5 series? ..
Its Schuerholtz hands down ... not even close.
Beane is overrated, and as soon as one of those three SP's leaves, everybody will see it .. ....
did i mention .....
$#%^ the Yankees and $%^# the Red Sox ...
Ok Good ...

What does better mean? Seriously, what does it mean? What does a great GM do?
Lopsided trades?
Knowing when to trade someone?
Creating a great Organization?
Hiring / Finding / Sticking with the right manager?
Getting undervalued palyers?
Creating a great farm system?
Creating a winning team?
Gettting to the WS?
Keeping your team competitive?
Working with less money than your colleagues and still coming out on top?
It's a probably some combination of all of the above plus some things I haven;t included here.
Both have done well at all of the above. They've done better at one thing over another at times, but there is no denying their success.
Personally, I'd probably look to John. Simply, to do it all over the time period he's done it, that is simply remarkable. I equate this question to choosing Beltran or Pujols as a first pick or deciding between RJ and Santana as the top pitcher. It's nit-picking and any team would be happy to have either of them.
Lofunzo.... that's a new Elisha picture you have there on the left (your Avatar, I believe it's called.) I'm a lover of all things Cuthbert, and I dont believe I've seen that one, unless it just looks different because it's cropped. Care to share a bigger pic? I don't think the guys on this board would mind.
