From Rotoworld:
Padres signed RHP Woody Williams, who had been with the Cardinals, to a one-year contract with an option for 2006.
If the Padres are guaranteeing Williams just $4 million, this looks like a good signing. His flyball tendincies won't hurt him in Petco Park, giving him a chance to post a sub-4.00 ERA. Injuries might be a problem, but that's why they're able to sign him at an affordable price. According to the AP, Williams is guaranteed $3.5 million and could make up to $14.5 million over the next two years. Dec. 8 - 7:33 pm et
I guess STL just wanted to make room for the younger guys, but if he was willing to go for something like that I don't know why they didn't resign him.
As a side note: Is anyone else as confused as I am? Morris signs for less than $2million guaranteed, Woody signs for about $4million guaranteed, but the Yankees are paying out the you know what for Wright, the Phillies for Lieber, and the Mets for Benson. What's going on with the pitching?

Looks good to me - he should be a good late round pick seeing as though PETCO is the anti-Coors, even though he was already suited fairly well to Busch.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."

That's what I'm saying. He did pitch in SD before coming to STL so I guess he really like it out there. If he can stay healthy, the Padres got a heck of a deal on him.
