answered my own question:
Dustin Hermanson won't take Shingo Takatsu's job at the start of 2005. He's expected to enter the season as a setup man.
"Dustin is a pitcher who has performed well throughout his career in a variety of roles, but we envision using him in a setup role," GM Ken Williams said. Hermanson had said that he wanted to close or start, but a multiyear deal apparently changed his mind. Hermanson will be a candidate for saves if Takatsu struggles, but he'll initially split seventh- and eighth-inning duties with Damaso Marte.

I think they'll get somebody else for the 5th spot in the rotation, and he'll either be the setup man along with Marte, or the closer if Takatsu starts to suck. I don't think he'll back to the rotation unless he really blows coming out of the pen, which I can see happening.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
