“This Old Cub” has just been released on DVD. The movie enjoyed a five month national theatrical run and received terrific reviews. It is a documentary featuring Ron Santo, former All Star 3rd baseman for the Chicago Cubs and the only position player to play the game with Type One Juvenile Diabetes (insulin dependent). Ron is now a radio broadcaster for his beloved Cubs and is just the 3rd player in Chicago Cub history to have his number retired at Wrigley Field. The film was written and directed by his son, Jeff Santo, a Los Angeles filmmaker. Ron has worked closely with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) for over 30 years and, in that time span, has raised over 60 million dollars. Even after losing his second leg to the disease in December 2002, Ron has continued to live a full life by maintaining a positive attitude.
