Matt Moris re-signs

Postby DominicanLou » Wed Dec 08, 2004 3:39 am

Decided to stay with the Cards, or rather, the Cards decided to stay with him. He signed for suprisingly little though, only one year for $2.5 million. Although I didn't expect or really want the Cards to keep him, you gotta like the deal at that price.

I think the Cards made out like bandits, given that Jaret Wright is apparently worth 7mil a year and Radke gets 8mil.

2.5 million! Man..my respect level for Morris has just gone way up. That man has done so much for the cards and he has one bad year and he realizes that he could have gotten more in the open market but he wanted to stay with the Cards and did what it took. I wish there were more players like that.

Could be 4.5 with incentives and he could have gotten more money on the open market but I doubt he would have gotten any more years. Good deal for the cards. ;-D

I'm glad he's staying in that he's a staple to the team. I'm not glad about his performance, but for that money, he's a very good risk/investment.

Walt does it again!

As a Reds fan....this sucks. Even though he's not the pitcher he used to be, he would probably still be the ace of Cincy's staff. 8-o

Im sitting here thinking the exact same thing... How happy would I be if the Tigers signed Matt Morris for 1 yr for 2.5 (4.5 if he hits incentives)? Must be nice ;-)

i think its actually a base of 2.5 with up to 4.5 in incentives for a total of 7 million if all incentives are reached. anyway, i like the deal. hopefully his offseason surgery will help get him straightened out.
