Nomar is still a top SS, probably #2, but I have to admit that his downward trends haven't been too appealing to me fantasy wise. Nonetheless, fine job by the Cubbies in acquiring him.

Although the Sosa deal most likely won't happen, their are rumors that the Cubs are still willing to take Floyd from the Mets with the Mets paying a portion of his salary.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Is anyone else taking this as Nomar saying that he knows he is worth more money than $8/year, but realizes that he needs to prove himself (and his health) this year? I think he just realized that he is not going to get much more money or years than this, so he decided to take the 1 year deal and hopes to play well, make everyone forget about last season, and then sign a big multi-year deal next year.
I like the move by Nomar, and it could be good for his fantasy value if he's that motivated.
uh, slomo, but yeah, that's exactly what he's doing. Am I missing something? (Why is this a novel idea?)
Nomar's value dropped because of injuries. The speculation all offseason was that he was going to take a one year deal to reaffirm himself as a superstar, then get big money. I bet he excells in Chicago and does just that.
