Just saw this on Rotoworld...Have you heard anything else about it in the papers Mad?

Rangers owner Tom Hicks confirmed Monday the club has made contact with Carlos Delgado's agent, David Sloane.
The Rangers certainly have the resources to pursue a top free agent or two, but they've given little indication until now that they will. J.D. Drew and Magglio Ordonez might be better fits for the team, but Delgado would still look very nice in the middle of the Ranger lineup. The Jays aren't expected to offer him arbitration today, meaning he won't cost teams a draft pick

Why would the Rangers spend that much money on a first baseman when 1) they already have 2 other options at least and 2) their offense isn't the problem? I agree with the blurb that an OFer would make more sense if they're not going to spend their money on pitching.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I think that Carlos would look very good at Ameriquest Field. :-D

They would have to use him for DH then(or Teixiera since i dont know which one is a better fielder) since Teixiera is already there but i would think they would need to go after someone like Maggs, or JD Drew as that article said since they have a very weak outfield.

Amazinz had it right. They don't need the offense at all IMO, especially anywhere on the IF since they've already got four good ones and a couple in the minors I think. :-? They need to spend that money on SP. ;-D

Yeah I really don't see them signing Delgado. If they did he would solely play DH, as the rangers have Tex and Adrian. I would rather just see them sign Dellucci and EY and save a bundle of money to spend on pitching. They don't need a big power hitter.

NY media is reporting that the Rangers made an offer to Hidalgo after the Mets declined to offer him arbitration.

yeah, i really don't think the rangers need to sign mr delgado. the rangers offense is one of the best in the league, but the pitching is another story.
