[quote="BigMusky"]I would like to see a quality film made about Pearl Harbor and the Island Hopping South Pacific War....quote]

I really like The Thin Red Line by terrence malick, it came out in 98 and has some similar combat scenes as private ryan. I prefer it to private ryan. The cinematography is amazing with very rich color. But its also a bit slow paced at times and might bore some who like their war movies to be non stop action. Its just under 3 hours.

A good academic (and very reable) read about the war with japan is: War Without Mercy: Race and Power in the Pacific War
by John W. Dower

it has some pretty eye opening accounts of some of the stuff that went on in the island hopping.

One of the novels I like is Norman Mailers The Naked and the Dead. about taking an island.

I saw an article about the Canadian Liberal Senator who has introduced a new bill that will outlaw spanking by parents. I want to post a thread about it but realized it was probably a political issue, so I decided against it. I miss the old haunt.

Outlaw spanking? 8-o

What an absurd idea. :-t

Only in today's world would that idea even be considered. Ridiculous. :-t
