Im going through a bit of withdrawl...

I saw an article about the Canadian Liberal Senator who has introduced a new bill that will outlaw spanking by parents. I want to post a thread about it but realized it was probably a political issue, so I decided against it. I miss the old haunt.

how would you like to describe it? They really wanted their country bombed with nukes into total submission and surrender so that the US would come over and help them modernize and bring in Western ideals. I guess that was their choice.

I am not sure spanking always works...but you must instill fear of some kind into your children when push comes to shove.

The only recent Pacific WWII movie I can remember liking was Windtalkers. Ok, so it might not win any Oscars, but, hey, John Woo kicks ass! :-D

If Japan had not attacked Pearl Harbor the rest of Europe might be speaking German today and the Queen might be living in Ottawa.

very true, as who knows if the US would have jumped in europe to help in the defeat of germany if not for pearl harbor........

you guys have heard all that stuff about how the US knew the Japanese were going to attack Pearl Harbor and did nothing because they wanted an excuse to enter the war. There is alot of evidence pointing to that being true too. So I dont think all of Europe would be speaking German now....but who knows. Germany was spread pretty thin, and without European allies demanding a complete surrender, we might have been content to just push them back and Germany would still be a dictorship with who knows what boundaries. World War II is the most fascninating event in human history.
