I would like to see a quality film made about Pearl Harbor and the Island Hopping South Pacific War....the movie Pearl Harbor sucked. I want something on the order or Saving Private Ryan or We Were Soldiers. Something about that pacific war always ends up being a love story instead of a war story. Everything about WWII is interesting, but the war on Japan is always overlooked.

We sure did get those little bastards back for bombing us though.

Some good old movies about the war in the South Pacific were "Tora, Tora, Tora" and "Midway"

Amaizing how our relationship with the Japanese has morphed from that that moment in time.

I hope we can say the same about the Middle East, too, one day.

The Japanese are allies of ours now because we occupied their country and westernized it. This is the motivation with the war in Iraq. It is an attempt to Westernize that nation and bring stability to the region. we have never occupied China or Northern Korea and those countries still hate our guts. I am sure it will be the same deal in the middle east. But it would be nice to have another country in the area bringing western ideas besides Israel who they hate more then us.

the word "occupied" really bothers me. does that mean the japanese are US allies because they don't have other choice? because it was imposed to them to become westernized?
