Growing up The Who was one of my favorite bands. I like the Doobies, but it's not even remotely close.
I saw The Who at Shea Stadium with the Clash warming up ('82 or '83?). After finishing a good portion of a bottle of vodka I removed a saftey pin from my Army jacket and proceded to pierce my ear. Ah, the joys of youth.
another one thats not even close ...
I mean they have a rock opera for gods sakes ..
No one knows what it's like to be the bad man To be the sad man behind blue eyes No one knows what it's like to be hated, To be fated to telling only lies.
But my dreams, they aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance that's never free
No one knows what it's like to feel these feelings Like I do and I blame you No one bites back as hard on their anger None of my pain and woe can show through
But my dreams, they aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance that's never free Mmmm...
When my fist clenches crack it open Before I use it and lose my cool When I smile tell me some bad news Before I laugh and act like a fool
And if I swallow anything evil Put your finger down my throat And if I shiver please give me a blanket Keep me warm let me wear your coat
No one knows what it's like to be the bad man To be the sad man, behind blue eyes
Can anybody believe that these 8 semi sentences sold millions, and made them a household name ...
People try to put us d-down Just because we get around Things they do look awful c-c-cold Hope I die before I get old
Why don't you all f-f-f-fade away? Don't try to dig what we all s-s-say I'm not trying to cause a big s-sensation I'm just talking 'bout my g-g-generation

I say we add those offenses to the capital punishment law.....Limp Bizkit also wrote faith right? And Puff Daddy wrote Kashmir??
Hey, Puff Daddy's version of Kashmir made me notice the song. Of course Zeppelin's version is better, and I think I've only heard Puffy's version once, but once I heard that opening I knew the song was awesome. It's my favourite song intro probably. I think the first time I heard it was in American Graffiti though.
Limp Bizkit also did a cover of My Generation - kinda. And Life in the Fast Lane, too. And Perfect Drug (kinda) by NIN.
BTW - The Who got my vote. Not a fan of "Behind Blue Eyes", but Teenage Wasteland, Pinball Wizard, My Generation:
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
