Mark Prior. This guy is several years from his prime while Alby, Carl, & Vladimir have just passed the crest. A Rod is a year beyond them.
Prior's team will always be near the top in payroll and he shares a division with the pirates, brewers, and reds. Is there a better super young fantasy pitcher? Prior is the surest pitching bet you'll get. Take him.
There is nological reason to take Prior over Pujols in a situation like this considering you can get someone like Sheets later who will all but replicate Prior's numbers sans Wins whereas you ain't gonna get some Pujols clone in later rounds.
Pitchers can be so volatile from year to year -- look at Prior -- that I would rather have Pujols who's done nothing but drive in 120+ runs, hit over .325 (except his second year), hit 35+ HR (except his second year), and produced 130+ runs the last two years. Sure I guess he could fall off the face of the Earth next year, but I'll take my chances on that happening before getting the next Prior like fall off any day of the week when like he said you can get a pitcher putting up numbers similar to Prior's two rounds later.
As he said not only are pitchers likely to change from year to year, the difference between Pujols and an 8th round hitter is a lot bigger than between Prior and an 8th round pitcher
There are 3 ways to do things, the right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power way!

Pujols past his prime at 24?
Age isn't everything in reference to Alex, Vlad, Beltran or really anyone.
Prior is too much of an injury risk to go close to #1
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Johan Santana.
I agree. I dont take pitchers in the 1st 2 rounds but I would be tempted to grab Santana with the last couple picks of the 1st round in a dynasty league.
