Steve Miller's 10 songs have been played ad nauseum on the radio over the last 20-25 years that I just cant stand listening to his stuff anymore. Every once in a while I will listen to a song of his, but by the end of it I remember why I was avoiding listening to it to begin with.
Petty on the other hand actually writes new songs and has grown as a musician.
There really is no debate in my mind - Petty by a landslide.
