Other than the steals I really can't see the fascination with Pierre. Does anyone notice that his steal totals have dropped each year for the last 2 or 3 seasons. I'm not sure of his age but I seem to recall that when he was in Colorado he wasn't exactly a young'um and that was about 4-5 years ago. No power, declining steals ......where's the value in getting him? I would only want him for my fantasy team and that it

His SBs haven't really declined, it's just that they spiked in '03. Pierre will be 28 in August.

The most worrisome thing about Pierre from an RL perspective is that his success rate dropped about 10 points last year and below the threshold where his SBs are valuable. It'll be interesting to see how effective he is this year.

Hey Amazins thanks for the facts! Lets take a look at his stats so far....1 CS and 0 steals. Could this be a trend?

Are you joking about the 1 CS and 0 SB trend? I hope to hell that you are. It's been 1 week. Wow. If you're predicting trends 7 games in, you need to re-evaluate your methods.

Why the Hell would I be joking????? That's what I think I stated. He did the same thing last year and he's off to the same start again this year. The difference is this year he's hitting a little better than last year at this time when he was sub 300. If you read the whole thread Amazins pointed out that he is not an efficient base stealer because he gets caught ALOT. 7 games in and 1 attempt and he was caught. 1 attempted steal even though he had running situations. Estimates from memory....7 games in and Crawford had 5 attempts, Pods 6 attempts and Womack at least 2 attempts that I can remember since he's not on any of my teams. Pierre 1 attempt and he was caught. Read into everything my man before you become incredulous!

So because Pods, Craw and Womack had oppurtunities to run means that Pierre had the same amount? How do you know the circumstances of his so called 'steal' oppurtunities. Maybe they were in need of a run and didn't want to gamble it away. There are several factors. You can't just say he's not running because he only attempted it once in 7 games. That's ridiculous.

The guy is a perrenial 45 SB guy. He plays good defense. He racks up hits and bats a good average. He gets on base. He's a stereotypical leadoff hitter, something the Yankees lack. He's a perfect fit.
