Top 1st Basemen Prospects?

Postby mktgteach » Sat Dec 04, 2004 12:36 pm

I am in a keeper league with a problem. Jason Giambi is my 1st baseman. Enough said. I do have Dmitri Young to possibly serve as a stop gap for me. I have inquired about acquiring Travis Hafner, but he wants me to give up Grady Sizemore. So......

I am trying to determine the top 1st Baseman prospects. C Kotchman, J Loney,R Howard, A Gonzalez, P Fielder, and D Johnson are already on other team's rosters.

So....who is left?

Thanks for the responses so far. What about Brian Dopriak? Also, what is the story on Kendry Morales? Is he a 1st baseman?

Thanks!

morales is a 1b/dh/of. if he hits he will find playing time all over the field.

dopirak is a solid 1b prospect. he has good power potential. probably wont hit for average and will have a hefty strikeout total.

Possibly Brad Nelson, Mil, although likely headed to OF.

Also Jason Botts, Tex.

Ryan Howard is without a doubt the top 1st baseman in the minors. I wish Philly would trade him to a team that would start him.

I disagree, Prince Fielder is pretty easily the top 1B prospect IMO. While Howard hit 37 HR he was 24 in AA and that is not too impressive to me.
Also as a homer pick Brian Dopirak is someone that you can get very late and is still very young and had a monster season last year(albeit in A ball)

I agree. I'd put both of them and probably Michael Aubrey ahead of Howard.

I was just wondering what everyone thought about Broadway for the Nats. He seems so have some serious power potential, but has been slowed by injuries. Just wondering what you all knew about him, cause i have him on my team and i want to get a true assesment on his value. Thanks ahead for any input!
