Here is how it looks now:

C - Mike Lieberthal
1B - Jim Thome
2B - Chase Utley
3B - David Bell
SS - Jimmy Rollins
LF - Pat Burrell
CF - Marlon Byrd
RF - Bobby Abreu

I'm not sure what order they will bat.

As long as Lofton's off the team, I'm happy.

Good for Byrd. At least he won't be thrown into the deep end again. He better show some progress though or the prospect label will come off.

I think the prospect label is already off. And I don't see how this can be viewed as good for Byrd. The only way it's good for Byrd is if he gets shipped out to another team where he has a chance at some PT

I'm betting this means that Byrd has one more chance to impress before the job becomes Lofton's.

looks like byrd may be traded, with lofton full time cf, batting second.

Kenny Lofton - OF - PHI

Phillies acquired outfielder Kenny Lofton and cash from the Yankees for RHP Felix Rodriguez.
It's believed that the Phillies are getting about $1 million in the trade. Both players are entering the final years of their contracts. Lofton is due $3.1 million in 2005 and Rodriguez $3.15 million. Lofton, 37, is likely to take over as the Phillies' center fielder and No. 2 hitter against right-handed pitchers. Jason Michaels can be his platoon partner. Marlon Byrd is still likely to be traded. Dec. 3 - 5:08 pm et
